From October 7 to November 12, 2009 I used a journal I made with Magnani Annigoni Designo paper. I prepainted backgrounds following my normal behavior, but I also started collaging sketches that were cut out and not necessarily related to anything in particular at a rate that exceeds such incidents in other journals.
I instead of my usual practice of creating pages and spreads in one sitting some pages and spreads were created over several days or weeks. It was not really a departure, so much as a "protraction" of my process. It was interesting to me to watch it unfold. I was recovering from complications of the flu at the early portion of this journal and I think that had something to do with the shift. The toned paper also had something to do with it—it's so fun to stick white stock on toned stock. Of course it could have been many other things as well. I don't think I'll know until I have more distance between me and the journal. And in fact I'll probably never know because by the time I will be in a position to "know" I'll be wondering about the latest "weirdo" journal, which is weird in some way that I can't yet imagine.
These were extremely popular posts and because the posts that deal with this journal are spread out in those two months I have made this list so that people interested in looking at the related pages can do so in order of posting, without a frustrating search, and without looking at additional unrelated posts that fall in between some of these posts.
I will update this page when my final video of the completed journal is posted. Note that the title of the post is not always indicative of the topic of a "weirdo" journal post because I sometimes I simply used a spread to decorate a reminder post. A discussion of the journal spread featured in that reminder post (reminder of a meeting or a show that was happening for instance) then took place in the caption—but you might also find some interesting stuff at the end of the post—you get the idea. Here they are in order of appearance:

This is a post over at Urban Sketchers Twin Cities and the first image is my friend Liz's sketch. My sketch appears at the base of the post.
