Join us from 7 to 9 p.m. at the June 17, 2013 meeting of the MCBA Visual Journal Collective when we'll explore ATCs or Artist Trading Cards. Local artist T.J. Goerlitz will share insights about how to become involved in trading these little pieces of art, and show us samples from her collection.
On T.J.'s blog you'll see posts about her artwork and examples of ATCs that she's using the printing presses to create, as well as linoleum block carvings. You'll see one of her ATCs on a press in this post here. In another post you'll see her again busy at the presses, this time making print reduction postcards.
We'll then take time to each create an ATC of our own. We'll have glue and collage materials on hand. Bring your favorite pens and pencils or tools. You might want to bring a piece of collage material that is personal to you.
To save time we'll only be making one card. We will however be scanning the cards and a digital book will be prepared which will include all the cards. You can print out and bind the book should you wish to have a physical copy. The book will also serve as a contact resource for members (with email addresses and short artist information) to help you find other artists interested in trading ATCs with you, going on sketchouts or sharing journaling news and adventures.
No matter what your artistic skill level you can involve yourself in this creative project, explore a new format, and be inspired by other artists. The meeting is free and open to all adult journal artists.
Come and join us!
