Dick has been coming home with various vegetables for me to sketch and it became immediately obvious to me what this one looked like the first time I drew it.
Gutenberg is a lovely paper for sketching. It has a slightly pebbled laid suface. The sizing on the paper, while not intended for watercolor, stands up to watercolor and gouache if you manage your water carefully. The creamy color and the lovely flecks in the paper are just an added bonus as far as I'm concerned.
You can see a more developed gouache sketch made on this paper in my November 1, 2012 post.
If you'd like to see additional examples of work on this paper you can use this blog's search engine to search for "Gutenberg," and you can click here to see the video flip through of my 2010 Minnesota State Fair Journal which was a book I made with this paper.
