Left: Sketch of a pug dog with a Pentel Pocket Brush Pen that is running out of ink. Fun little guy I met on the street one day, sketched late at night from a photo on the computer, after Dick had gone to bed and I couldn't get to my ink cartridges! I hope that today, the first day of 2012, you all get to do something creative that will feed your notions and intentions for the rest of the year.
I like to do a little bit of everything that I love on New Year's Day, to set a template of what all my days should be. I don't have to finish anything, though that's always a good side result if I do. All I need to do is spend an hour doing something that I love, hour after hour. So there will be a bit of biking (probably inside as the snowless weather can't hold forever), a lot of writing, a lot of sketching and painting, and of course time spent with Dick.
My big plan for today is to get over to Como Zoo and sketch the animals from life. Since there are several buildings where you can get in out of the weather it's a plan no matter how cold it gets. (Though when I first walk into a building there my glasses always fog up horribly at this time of year!)
I can hear the siren call of puffins. When you no longer live with dogs having access to puffins is a great comfort.
Make today a special day full of the activities you choose to build your life around.

Happy 1st day of 2012 to you, Roz and enjoy the Zoo.
I think I'll add some drawing of our 4 corners and perhaps Cleo the dog will pop on out.

Happy New Year! I look forward to another year of your inspiring blog posts. And thanks to your new year's day post, I'm going to haul out my sketchbook and blow the dust off its cover.
Thanks,
Lynn

Happy New Year, Roz!
I'm starting a new Venezia journal today, and will make sure that I put in a bit of time on a painting, to set a good direction for the year to come.

Zoe, thanks, I'm just getting trying to decide on which will be my journal for the start of the new year and then I can bug out of here. I hope you have a great time sketching!

Yeah, Lynn, get some sketching done, that's what I love to hear! Have a great 2012.

Miss T, aren't they fab? I finished my in-studio journal yesterday (it's one of those) and hope to start another one later today, though it may have to wait a little while as I also have a sample test journal I made with some paper I need to test and I'm thinking I might work through it first. But the plastic is already off the new Venezia. (Are you using a 9 x 12 or one of the smaller ones?)
Have a great time painting.

Roz, it's a 6 x 9 journal. But I'm tempted by the larger one, even though it's a bit too big to carry around.

Miss T. I'll be interested to see how you like the 6 x 9. I don't carry the 9 x 12s around either.
