Miss T

Roz, the more of these splatter dogs I see, the more I love them!

Roz Stendahl

Miss T, thanks, but I think I'm getting to spatter happy these days! I can't stop myself. It's so darn fun. More spatter images are to come, but you'll be relieved to know that I'll be using colored pencils on Monday, so your furnishings will not be at risk! (Everything here is now covered with pigment!)

Miss T

Roz, for you I'd get out the drop cloths!

LizzieBo

Thank you so much for such a fun sketch on such a frustrating day (I can't believe our government!! Do they actually mean to govern?). Last night I painted birds for the first time - from a Audubon guide. A nuthatch (how can you not love a bird that regularly goes upside down?), a raven and (in your honor) a puffin. What fun. Do you spatter, paint and then spatter again?

Roz Stendahl

LizzieBo, the government is indeed not being productive right now. I spent my free time today finishing off some necklaces (I had cleared up the studio and was wanting to put all my bead stuff away so it was easier to finish the necklaces) so I didn't have to think about the budget situation. We've had government shutdown in Minnesota, it's all a mess.

So I'm glad you got to draw some birds. And I'm glad you tackled a puffin (I also love Ravens!). If you live near a natural history museum, or a Cabella's where they have taxidermy, you can practice sketching from the taxidermy and that will help you with the learning process too.

Hope it goes well!

And takes your mind off the government.

LizzieBo, I forgot the last part of your comment: I tend to leave the spatter all to the end, that way if I want to go in with additional washes I don't wash out my spatter. There are exceptions but mostly it's the last thing I do.

Roz Stendahl

Thank you Miss T for being accommodating, but I won't put you through that! See you on Monday.

Melisa

I've been sick and haven't made my usual blog rounds lately. I almost missed this guy! I love all your dogs but this fellow, especially. :)
